hungry hungry hippo

recently we've been making sure he joins us for meals if he isn't asleep, so that he might get used to sitting in his highchair and accustomed to the notion of meals. he hasn't seemed to mind, in fact, he's really shown interest in what we're doing and the food itself. i'll take this as a good sign, but we're still waiting until the 6th month mark. i see no point in encouraging stinkier diapers before absolutely necessary. my mom thought it would be entertaining to place a nibble of banana bread in his mouth the other day, so we figured if he's going to have banana bread he might as well have a schells beer too. it's the brandel way, of course.

worry not, he didn't actually get a sip much to his (or his father's) chagrin.

on another note, we started our first csa produce box from harmony valley farms last week! it's already been awesome and we're on to the second week's box. it's such an adventure. we didn't know what half of last week's box was and now we're old pros! i'm very excited to be able to make all these new recipes and work with new produce. and of course, knowing who your farmer is, and having them close, and all organic is fab too. it's like a whole new world. a brand new place i've never known.... :) anyway, i hope finn will enjoy the custom-made veggie and fruit purees coming his way in a few months. i guess we'll see.

for now he looks pretty happy here, maxin' and relaxin'. i guess i'm doing something right.
